Far from the dusty stereotypes, biblical scholarship is increasingly digital and discoveries can be made in unexpected places. This issue of Ink is all about looking at the Bible a little differently and expecting to be surprised by what we find.

In our cover story, Dr Peter J Williams invites us into the world of digital scholarship and explores how light is helping researchers to uncover hidden texts. Ben Crelin and Dr Carol Kaminski take a step back to see the whole story through Bible overviews. While in Artefact in Focus, Dr Kaspars Ozolins gets into the finer details, looking at the Ketef Hinnom Amulets and what their miniature writing reveals about the transmission of the Old Testament text.

Ed Creedy introduces us to The Shepherd of Hermas and asks whether we should take seriously claims it should be in the Bible. And in Languages in Focus Travis Wright looks at an Old Testament writer’s use of Hebrew and encourages us to pursue the biblical languages for a fresh view of Scripture.
