Tyndale House receives planning permission to build a new library complex.
In God's kindness, we have received planning permission to build a new library complex.
Plans for re-building the library have been discussed and prayed about for many years at Tyndale House. The current library, built in 1956, has overstocked shelves, small study spaces and lacks wheelchair accessible event space. As a result, we have been increasingly limited in what we are able to offer the scholars who use our facilities.
A suitable library space is integral to our work. ‘Here at Tyndale House, we work to recruit and resource people from across the world to provide high-level biblical scholarship to the growing global Church. We operate one of the most significant library collections for biblical studies in the world, and we have a community here on site,’ says Peter J Williams, Principal of Tyndale House. ‘We need a space to flourish’.
Our aim is to build a state-of-the-art building which will stand the test of time, glorify God and serve biblical scholars for generations to come. Project plans include replacing the current library with a 4-floor state-of-the art library facility, creating a new multipurpose event space and improving our offering of short-term residential accommodation for readers.

Work has already begun to clear books out of the current library and readers have been set up in temporary workspaces in the main building.
